I know a lot of folks are reading my articles are still wondering if duplicate content is really going to hurt their sites.
Let’s break this down.
Duplicate content IS going to have a negative effect on your sites if you want to rank high in the search engines. You may as well not have bothered to put the page on your site at all because it will likely be filtered out of the regular search results. If your page is filtered out of the regular search results, it’s not going to be seen by surfers and you won’t get free search engine traffic from it.

I’ve written a few articles on Duplicate Content. Basically, I believe you need to have unique content on your site if you want it to be competitive in the search engines. As you know, it’s not just enough to rank high and get traffic from search engines. You have to have something of value on your site. Good content is one thing, but keeping people’s interest is another. Therefore, you also need the tools for planning out your site’s content (i.e. in-depth keyword research and analysis) along with a strategy for using them.
