Free Backlink Generator and Linking To Your Backlinks

April 5th, 2008 | 21 Comments

Yesterday, I briefly touched on the importance of linking to sites with your backlinks on it. Today, I am going to show you a tool that you can use that generates a nice quick list of backlinks to a few sites that have “dofollow” (What is dofollow?) backlinks to your site.

To generate this list, you first need to go to:
Free Backlink Generator

Then, scroll down the page a little bit, and enter your website parts into their specific sections. (Note: If your website doesn’t use www such as http://inlineseo.com then just delete the www part.) Then, click “Get Free Backlinks.”

Then, go on your blog or website, and post the HTML code that the tool generated into a post or page. It will look like this:

Each of those pages has a “dofollow” link back to your site.

Although this tool really doesn’t generate backlinks (since they already exist on the internet), it does allow you to put those links on your page which accomplishes 2 things:

1) Allows Google (and other search engines) to find those pages and count those pages as a backlink for your site.
2) It passes some link juice from your site to those sites, and in turn, those sites are passing link juice to you.

This isn’t going to hugely affect your search engine rankings, nor is it some magic tool. But, it is a nice reference tool, and useful in allowing the search engines to find your backlinks easier. This shouldn’t be your only link building tool, but it should be a part of your larger link building campaigns.

P.S.  Another free backlinks generator is our DoFollow Blogs Search Engine, DoFollow Diver! Easily search for dofollow blogs to comment on!

Unasked: An Online Profile for Getting a Backlink

April 4th, 2008 | 5 Comments

Recently I wrote about using your online profiles for link building. The basic premise is that everywhere you have a profile online that allows you to put a website address on it, you should, since that will be one more backlinks to your site.

As I was reading one of the blogs I am subscribed to, I came across a post about an online profile you can create, which has your backlink on it. This site was Unasked, a Yahoo! Answers type website, where you can answer people’s questions. Although, if you answer a question with a link to your site, the link is “nofollow” (What is nofollow?) so it doesn’t quite count as a backlink for Google. But, every time you answer a question, it links to your profile, which contains the “dofollow” link to your website, with the anchor text of your choice. So, go and answer some questions, and increase your backlinks with this awesome one way link building method. Check out my link building on my Unmasked profile.

This site exemplifies a great link building concept I will be writing on in the near future. The basic premise is that if you build links to your site using promotional pages, then you should also be building links back to those promotional pages, in order to make the link to your original site even more effective. I’ll write about this in the next few weeks.

Be a Top Commenter to Get Great Site-wide Backlinks on Blogs.

April 3rd, 2008 | 7 Comments

It is the beginning of the month… what does that mean? Besides bills? That the “Top Commenter” plugin on a majority of blogs who use this plugin gets reset. That means you can get free site-wide links and advertising… for free… did I mention free? Yes, it’s free, free, free! Welcome to the Department of the Redundancy Department.

What EXACTLY does this mean for you? Instead of digging through the archives to try and find which posts have a high page rank and leave a comment on those pages, you can leave a comment on any page and still get the PR from the pages that have higher page rank, because you get the PR from EVERY page on the site.

All you need to do is to post a comment to every post they make. Be sure to contribute to the posts and not just spam, because that will make a webmaster either de-link you (which is possible) or make their whole blog “nofollow” which will hurt your efforts too.

Instead, just respond by either asking a question… expanding on the post,… answering another commenter’s question… etc. Then, visit these blogs that use “Top Commenter” whenever they make a new post, and comment on it, and you will stay ahead of everybody on the Top Commenter post. If you have to, dig through the archives and comment on a post, in order to keep yourself on the list. Plus, while making all of those posts (if the blog uses “dofollow”) you are building backlinks that way, even if you aren’t the top commenter.

AND, if you use the CommentLuv love trick I posted about earlier this week, then that’s double your backlinks, plus if you get top commenter, the nice site-wide link (on every single page) will be good for search engine listings, number of backlinks, and for free advertising.

Just, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not spam.

Enjoy the tip… it is still early in the month to snag a few top commenter spots! Start out with my blog for the free no follow backlinks from the top commenter plugin.

P.S. Don’t have like 65 comments, when the second place person has 6. Do enough to stay in the top 5, or top 8, or whatever, but don’t do a ridiculous amount of comments that shows you are just trying to get that spot. Also, the more posts that you comment on now, the less in the archive that will be available for each and every month in the future.

How To Check How Many Backlinks Your Site Has – Part 2

March 31st, 2008 | 13 Comments

One of the first posts I made on this blog dealt with different websites that you can use to check your backlinks (See: How To Check How Many Backlinks Your Site Has). I figured it would be kind of popular, but I had no clue that it would be as popular as it is! People really want to be able to check how many backlinks they have. They also like to check the backlinks of their competitors’ websites.

So, in an effort to bring my readers what they want, I have scoured the web for even more websites that you can use to check how many backlinks your site has. Not all of them are the best, and some really aren’t that great at all, but hopefully with a whole bunch options for checking your backlinks, you are able to find one or two that you really like.

NOTE: As I wrote in the previous “Check Your Backlinks” post, I suggest not using them all. I also recommend that you don’t compare the numbers against each other. Find the one that works best for you and seems most accurate for your site, and monitor it weekly in order to see the progress of your one way link building campaign.

Now, here’s the list:

Link Diagnosis
http://www.linkdiagnosis.com
This is a nice tool for showing you your backlinks, and also breaking down your backlinks of your internal pages too. To get the full effect of this tool, you need to install the Firefox plugin for it (don’t worry, they’ll tell you that you need to, and how to install it.) It does take longer with the Firefox plugin installed, because it gets so much more information for you, including: anchor text and total number of links on the page your link is on.

Domain Pop
http://www.domain-pop.com/
This site allows you to check each domain once every 5 days. (I know, you want to be able to check every 5 minutes, but instead of always checking your backlinks, work on one way link building instead!) This site shows you how many links total you have, how many domains and how many different IP’s your links are on. It also gives a basic breakdown of the pages on each domain that your links are on.

dnScoop’s Domain and Site Value Tool
http://www.dnscoop.com/
This tool tells you your domain’s age, your PageRank, whether or not the PageRank is valid, How many inbound links according to Yahoo, your Alexa traffic rank, the IP report which has all of the domains on that IP, the text Link Ads estimated Link Value, and an estimated “total site value”.

W3tool’s Backlink Checker
http://www.w3tool.com/backlink/
This tool is nice, because it lets you check up to 10 URLs at the same time. This is great for checking your main site and multiple internal pages, or simply checking your site against your competitor’s sites. It does not display’s Google’s links, but it does display Yahoo’s, AltaVista’s and Alltheweb’s.

LinkVendor’s Domain Popularity Analysis
http://www.linkvendor.com/seo-tools/domain-popularity.html
This tool searches Yahoo, and gives a domain-by-domain breakdown of a sample of the pages your link is found on. It also tells you the different IPs and to see each page’s PageRank, you need to register for the service and login. Everything else requires no registration.

1stSearchEngineRanking’s Link Popularity Tool
http://www.1stsearchenginerankings.com/link-popularity-tool/
This one tells your Alexa rank, your PageRank, and how many links you have on Google, MSN, and Yahoo. The yahoo numbers seem to be a bit low, comparing it against searching Yahoo’s own Site Explorer. Either way, it’s a pretty conservative number for each site, so definitely a tool to use for weekly benchmarking.

Piloun’s WebInfo

http://www.piloun.com/info
This breaks down your Google PageRank and Alexa rank, the number of pages index in Google, Yahoo, AltaVista, and MSN. It also shows you the backlinks for Yahoo and google, although they use the “link:yoururlhere.com” method for Google, which doesn’t show accurate results.

WeBuildPages Free Backlink Checker
http://www.thelinkpop.com/index.php
This tool doesn’t accurately report the number of links Google sees. It does accurately display the number that Yahoo and AltaVista see. This is just a set of numbers, for a very quick check.

PageRankr
http://www.pagerankr.com/
This little tool tells you the PageRank, how many pages you have indexed in Google, and how many pages link to you for Google, Yahoo, Alltheweb, and AltaVista. This uses the “link:yoururl.com” method for Google, which doesn’t show accurate results.

Webmaster Toolkit’s Link Popularity Checker
http://www.webmaster-toolkit.com/link-popularity-checker.shtml
This basic tool, is about the same as PageRankr, showing you how many pages link to you for Google, Yahoo, Alltheweb, and AltaVista. They also use the “link:yoururl.com” method for Google, which doesn’t show accurate results.

Using Internal Linking to Build Backlinks – Part 1

March 24th, 2008 | 16 Comments

This is a series about how to use internal links as a quick, easy and effective way to build links back to your site and the various pages within your site.

Part 1 – Increasing your Search Engine Rankings with Internal Link Building
When most people think of link building, they think of one way link building by submitting to directories, publishing articles or press releases, commenting on blogs, or the various other ways of building links. They also may think of reciprocal links which is trading links with another website.

Another type of link building is internal link building. If you don’t know what this is, the best way for me to describe it is by showing you an example. In the previous paragraph, you may notice that “one way link building” is a link back to the main page of this website. Since that is a keyword that I am targeting, this post on my site will link back to the front page with “one way link building” as the anchor text. This is an easy, effective way to build links.

All you need to do is find keywords that you are targeting for your main site, and link back to your main site within a post, by using that keyphrase as the anchor text for your link. Don’t go overboard, but one link per page is effective.

You also don’t want to JUST target your front page. Although it is good to get many links to your front page, it is also good to get backlinks to the deeper pages in your site (called “deep linking”). This is effective for two reasons. It allows you to target other keywords than just those you are targeting with your main page. And, since you are creating a link to that page, Google (and other search engines) see that and it helps to increase your rankings. Also, Google sees this as a sign of a well-organized website. If your website is built in a way that people (and their spider) can easily find web pages, then that is a better site than one who makes it harder to find the deeper pages of a site.

So, go through your old posts and old pages of your site, and see where you can link back to some of your more popular posts, and your front page, and you’ll begin to see a little bit of increase in your search rankings for your site(and especially for some of your deep pages).
