SEO Tutorial Conclusion

Submitted by Lisa on Wednesday, 22 October 200821 Comments

Congratulations on finishing this search engine optimization tutorial. While this tutorial only covers the basics of SEO, I can guarantee you now know more than 90% of the webmasters out there already which is a big step in the right direction.

To summarize, you’ve learned the importance of the 3 main components of SEO. These include keyword research, both on-site optimization, and off-site optimization.

If you’re serious about SEO, I recommend you follow the steps I’ve listed out for you next…

Conduct keyword research with Wordtracker or another reputable keyword tool. This step is crucial and often overlooked because it’s not as fun as building a site.

Perform on-site optimization – make sure you have meta tags and heading tags with your keywords incorporated into them. Use the right anchor text when linking within your site and write your content with your keywords in mind.

Perform off-site optimization – Jumpstart your link building campaign by submitting your site to directories and bookmarking it. Write articles and press releases and submit these frequently. Be sure to contribute at do follow forums and add comments on do follow blogs. And remember that link building is an on-going process.

Please be sure to check-out further SEO related tips on the InlineSEO.com blog. I have a complete strategy I use that fills in many of the gaps in the outline above that I plan to share with you. SEO is a complex and time consuming process and a step-by-step blueprint is almost a necessity if you want to gain momentum and get your site ranked high in the search engines as quickly as possible. The best way to stay up to date on the free content I post on the blog is to subscribe to the RSS feed.

Great writeup! One of the biggest things is competition of keywords. Finding out what is popular is only half the battle. SEOBook has some great free tools for keyword research.

Thanks for the tutorial. You have no idea how much it helped - not me, but those of my friends that asked me about Seo. I am not the most pleasant person and HATE stupid questions - now I’ll just give them the link to the tutorial and hopefully, any questions they will still have (if any) will not be as stupid as before ;)

My biggest frustration with keyword research is the fact that different keyword tools give you different results in terms of searches per months. Wordtracker seems to show much less traffic than google keyword tool. As a result, many times my own keyword research is a hit and miss game.

Brushing up on these posts definitely will bring you up to speed. Some basic posts like this that outline SEO should be a prerequisite to trying to work in the field. I saw a thread on DigitalPoint this morning asking of font face could help with Google listings… There are so many people out there that don’t have a clue. Thanks for putting these together!

Great post, thanks for this. This really does cover most of the basics for the newbie SEO. The toughest part is keyword research, and watching out for duplicate content, but I think we’re getting pretty good at this now.
