Link Building Digest 1
Instead of rewriting what others have said, I decided to put together some links to some great posts written recently by link building masters…
Collin Lahay recently wrote Link Building with Naymz about a good place to add some of your links… it also allows you to add your other online profiles (where you should have links to your site) so by creating a web of links to pages that have links to your sites on them, that means more backlinks, and more chances of your site being crawled by Google.
The folks over at Wiep.net have written a nice little article about what link building really is, and it include some tips to being better than everyone else (which is what the goal of link building is… to be at the top of the SERPs).
Thomas Schmitz wrote Everything You Wanted to Know About Inbound External Links … and there’s a ton of great info there, to reinforce why link building is so important… if you aren’t seeing results from your link building yet, definitely read this, to get re-energized to build backlinks to your site.
Hope these can keep you entertained…. but not distract you too much from actual link building! Remember, we can all find stuff to keep us occupied to not link build because link building is boring (read RSS feeds, browse news, play video games, check out backlinks, check out analytics account, etc. etc.) But, link building is more important than all of that! Set a daily goal and strive to reach that goal for link building!

great advice about using names in online profiles, I noticed that a lot of forum and membership profiles come up when I search for certain keywords. There more you have in different places the better!

Hey, its a never ending quest for links! To make it less boring, I try to split my time between: (1) comments at “Do Follow” blogs, (2) forum posts at DJ or web-related forums with “Do Follow” signature links, and (3) link building with directories, social bookmarking, social media (like Naymz). Anyone wanna swap references, let me know!
(I’ve met Breakaway in person, so that would be a natural one.) I only need 80 points to make the “10″ Rep Score. You get about 15-20 points for a reference (depending on the Rep Score of the reviewer).
may i know how much the signature links help which are in unrelated forums?
Nice link building resource post. Have you noticed any difference between capital and lower case in the SERPS?

Good finds! Thanks for posting those. I’ve had a friend send me their Naymz profile but I never tought of using one to drop backlinks. I’ll have to keep a better eye out for similar opportunities as sooo many sites and online communities allow you to create a profile.

The question I’m asked most often is Parking. If I’ve got knuttbutter.com showing the same exact content as knuttbutter.net, do I get hit for duplicate content? Should I be doing a redirect instead?
They’d be pointed at the same folder, causing them to show the same thing but I’m not sure Google would know I own both. Or how they would handle it.
Brent … it would be best if you redirect the .net site to the .com site.
You said it in your post above. Many people find link building boring and would rather be doing something else. I would rather be making $10k per hour like Tiger Woods…but I guess I don’t have his talent. I’m learning more and more about link building and your info above is most useful to find more. Thanks

Good post, most of this stuff are indeed the basics but you tend to forget them..
I was thinking about the anchor text, you can only influence that by creating a good title and perfect post about the subject.. Bloggers who use you as a refference sometimes choose the wrong anchor text..
