True. This the only way of getting back links and some traffic. You have put it in a nutshell. this definitely is a method that I have overlooked. I have done this on some of my profiles but not all. thanks for the insight!

All above methods are great. But I prefer forum signature links. It is very easy to target any anchor text and deep links when doing forum posting.
Forum posting also gives referral traffic than other methods.

well according to your reply then IHMO that relevancy is still the key CMIIW,
forum sig will be more effective in generating traffic if you are posting in the relevant forums and even better in the relevant threads with your site, of course with catchy signature sentence.

Yes, they aren’t the best quality links, but every link helps. And, if your forum link is relevant (like when I post in the Link Development section of Digital Point Forums) then it can bring some great traffic.

I have noticed that posting on forums with a signature for a new site helps get that site indexed pretty fast. After that, they are low value, but easy to obtain links!
